Financial district
Frankfurt's famous financial district is situated right on the banks of the Main river. The buildings have influenced the skyline of the city. The Eurotower, the former seat of the European Central Bank, is one of the marks of this district. The new building of the ECB is located in the eastern part of the city.

Old Opera house
The Old Opera House was opened in October 1880. During the Second World War this spectacular building was destroyed and only renovated fourty years later. During all these years it was known as Germany's most beautiful ruin. In August 1981 the Old Opera House opended its doors again and counts more than 450.000 visitors each year.
Römerberg
Frankfurts Römerberg forms a contrary to the modern rest of the city. The pictureque square with its traditional buildings and the fountain of justice is since the 15th century where Frankfurt's government is situated.
St. Bartholomew's Cathedral
In the center of Frankfurt you will find Bartholomew's Cathedral. In the past this has been the place where kings have been crowned. The impressive gothic building had to be renovated twice, first due toe a fire in 1867 and later due to the damage of WWII.
Today the tower is open to the public and after climbing the 324 stairs you will be rewarded with a spectcular view over the city.
Zoo Frankfurt
Frankfurt's zoo opened its doors in 1858 and is therefore the second oldest zoo in Germany. It had to move to a bigger location in 1874 where it was reopend in 1876. After being destroyed during the Second World War it took years to rebuild everything. Today the zoo is home to 4500 individual animals and 450 different sorts of animals. Zoo Frankfurt makes it a point to keep its animals in an animal-friendly environment and commits itself for animal welfare.
